Changing my WMV formatted video files into a different video format?
I was wondering if there's a type of software that will let me change the format of a WMV video file into a MPEG-1, MPEG-3, Quicktime, etc... video format? And if anybody can find me some freeware video converters I would appreciate it.

The mencoder program can convert to and from virtually any format. For WMV, you need to have the win32codecs package, but if you can play WMV videos, then you have it. Note that you can't convert encrypted videos.
mencoder happens to be a _VERY_ complicated program, but you can find some documentation at:
ChapterÂ*13.Â*Basic usage of MEncoder
I'm sure that there are GUIs out there. Try Googling for a GUI for ffmpeg or mencoder.
