    Does anyone know a good GPS Linux app for in-car navigation?

    I was looking for something like tom tom or so...

    In the US you can download the maps from the Census B. instead the application

    GpsDrive might be what you are looking for.

    If you want something beyond just GPS, one cool solution is nGhost. It can integrate 3rd party GPS apps, while also providing a good interface for music and video.
