pre-compiled kernel
I am getting the message that my system can't find a pre-compiled kernel for the NVIDIA driver. It automatically checks nvidia's site and the source code. I added the rpm packages from the installation disks (all 5) in the /user/src/i586 files, but i still get the same message that it can't find the kernel. What do I do now?

It should compile a custom driver for you
Are you installing the drivers from the nvidia site or are you using drivers that came with your distribution? I used the driver from nvidia. It looked for a driver to match my kernel but could not find one. It then compiled the driver to match the kernel that I had.

Does the installed kernel source match the one you are currently running.
Could you paste your kernel version here and the ls -la /usr/src
use uname -rvm for kernel version---[ MS09-99896 - Vulnerability in All MS Windows OS ; Using Windows Could Allow Remote Code Execution. ]---
