Hi I am looking for a download accelerator like axel, the only proble with axel is that you can not enter a http usernae and password.
I am currently using ubuntu. Axel is the only download accelerator that I have found that goes as fast as windows flashget.

Can som1 please tell me of a download accelerator that lets me enter a http(not ftp) user name and password that will run in ubuntu, or is thier a way to make axel do this Please help axel can speed my downloads up to 10 times faster

There is some debate over whether download accelerators really do anything, but here are some previous threads that might give you suggestions:

The best solution to speed up your downloads is always to upgrade your internet service to something faster.

Have you tried aget? I don't know if it provides the feature you want, but it does have the stated goal of being a FlashGet replacement.
