Symantec Ghost could do the job.

Well, the core Linux program `dd' can make images. The question is, I guess: Where and how do you wish store this image?

I would like to put the image on cd or DVD. If I have to I would put it on second HD. I just want the easiest way and easy to install

But do you really have space for the entire system image on CD or DVD?

well I am not sure. I mean all I want to do is make an image of an installed version of Suse 9.1 with the basic security updates and the programs that I use.
