im on xubuntu 7.10
i just downloaded firefox 3.0 alpha 8 and transferred all my bookmarks, history, etc. from firefox 2. then i uninstalled firefox 2. but it uninstalled sun-java6-plugin and when i try to reinstall sunjava6 plugin in synaptic it wont let me install the plugin without installing firefox 2 aswell.
how can i get the plugin to install without having to install firefox 2 on my computer?Microsoft isn't evil, they just make really crappy operating systems.

You could install java manually using the bin file (non rpm) from Sun and then create a symlink from libjavaplugin_oji.so to your Firefox plugins directory.
