Morning everybody.

When I'm in Windows XP I can have several applications downloading from the net simultaneously and still use Google for extra searches etc. However, when I'm in Linux one application hogs all the bandwidth meaning that I can't even get Google homepage when either downloading a file or using a package updater. Does anybody know of a simple to configure app which will sort out my bandwidth sharing?
Obviously all I get on Google search is information on sharing wireless connections and networked machines but this is just one computer with apps that don't like to share with each other.

Thanks for any answers folks, take it easy.
