[QUOTE=RobinVossen;
Thanks for your advice.
Just visited;
Desktop Client Software

and can't sort out which package shall I download. I'm running Gnome desktop on Archlinux 86-64 2007 08-2
What I need is to send fax direct on application, such as OOo, Gedit, etc. with print command, similar to Symantic WinFax which I ran >10 years ago.
A further question is there any way sending email to fax without going through fax server. TIA

Well you can link your Modem on your PC. With a cable.
Then you can use Hylafax in command line to send a Fax.. you'll have to write a small Bash script in order to link it to your OOo or Gedit.
Not sure if Arch has a Package for it.
So, well I'd just Compile the package if I'd were you.
Hope that you can manage it.
Cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin,
Actually I have 2 issues on my searching.
1)
On my 1st posting I was searching for a faxing package which allows me sending fax direct on application with print command.
2)
Later I have another thought, to send fax on email, i.e. email to fax.
I hesitate whether there are such packages available on Internet avoiding to reinvent a wheel.
Thanks

Now I'm confused.
I have a Mail Server box running postfix as mail server. I won't send mails nor fax on this box. Mails will be sent on Linux workstation running Evolution as mail client. So are the faxes which will be sent on Linux workstation as well.
1)
Send fax direct on application with print command
On Windows workstation I can install "WinPrint HylaFax"
https://sourceforge.net/projects/winprinthylafax/
to do the job. It works like a native Window printer. Faxes can be sent direct on application with print command. But "WinPrint HylaFax" is for Windows. Then on Linux workstation which package shall I install? Gfax?
Welcome to the GFAX project web site
Do I need installing HylaFax on all Linux workstations? OR only on the mail server box.
2)
Email to fax
I need to install HylaFax server on the mail server box. Faxes will be prepared in .pdf/tiff format attached to the email. The email body will be used as cover page. Emails will be sent on Linux workstations.
I still haven't figured out how to run a copy of postfix MTA on Hylafax and to have my domain on /etc/resolv.conf configured that it knows to route fax to the Hylafax+ server.
I expect having everything clarified before start to move.

Ah no you can just install Hylafax on your Server.
And you'll have to make that button yourself but thats really easy.
What the button will do is: Connect to the server using SSH(Secure)/Telnet(Insecure). Then you just use the Commandline command to send the fax.
2. I know Hylafax can do that. But I dont know how.
hope that clears stuff up
