Hi there,
Ok, I've just got Internet access with Linux. Very pleased so far. Currently using a mix of Opera and Konqueror as Firefox is old, and won't work, and Opera doesn't have any hava modules installed.
Now, firstly: When I download a .tar.gz file and want to compile from source, where do I download the file to? I've heard it should be /usr/local/src - Is this true? If so, how can I? It says I don't have access to do so, and I can only do it in root, but don't want to go on the net in root.
Secondly: What site do i use for rpm repositories? and how do i set it up in yast?
Thirdly: If I download an RPM, where should I download it to?
Thanks all.

1st and 3rd are entirly your choice, everyone has there preferaces, just navigate (using the cd command) to the directory you downloaded the file into before you use any of the commands. search the forums a bit, i know that less than a week ago, someone posted how to do that. ( i dont use SUSE, sorry)
