JabberD and gaim

Our work place has decided they need corporate IM.
An intern of ours has spun up Jabber on Linux with LDAP.

That part seems to be working fine. The client seems to have problems with the entities presence when someone logs back on. He is using gaim.

I honestly don't know if this is a setting in Jabberd or in the client.

The Jabberd version is 2.0.

Any help or pointers are appreciated.

What exactly is the problem when he logs back on? Does he not show up? you did a good job including the situation, but a accurate description of the error is important or we dont know where to start looking for an answer.
