Wine on Debian
Hello all,
I have Debian installed on my computer and have been trying to get Wine to work. When I try to open the notepad program I get the error that :module not found". I have tried searching with google and realized that other people have had the same error, but I still haven't figured it out.
I have installed it using the "apt-get install wine" command. I did "winecfg" after that so that I now have a .wine folder in my home directory. I tried to run notepad with the full path
But I get the error:Code:wine /home/thomas/.wine/drive_c/windows/notepad.exe
The version is 0.9.25 but I think that the current stable version is 1.0.1. Google told me that I might just need to install the newest version of wine, but how to I do that? (I have not been able to find the .deb package/file for it)Code:Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin /home/thomas/.wine/drive_c/windows/notepad.exe ... wine: could not load L"C:\\windows\\notepad.exe": Module not found Wine failed with return code 126 Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset /usr/bin/wine: line 529: 8434 Terminated $XMESSAGE -timeout 30 -buttons " Dismiss ":0," Never display this message again ":3 -title "Wine Launch Window" -default " Dismiss " "Invoking $WINEBIN/$WINE_BIN_NAME $@ ... This dialog box is a temporary status dialog to let you know that Wine is attempting to launch your application. Since Wine is still very much in a development stage, many applications will fail silently. This dialog box is your indication that we're *trying* to run your application. This dialog box will automatically disappear after 30 seconds, or after your application finishes. You can permanently disable this dialog by selecting the option below. This tutorial is for installing Google Chrome using Wine 1.1.6 in Debian. You can use the tutorial for just installing Wine 1.16.

Thank you for the reply
I tried to follow the tutorial, but when I run the command 'apt-get update' I get some errors:

- 11-03-2008 #4I would leave this as a comment on the above links blog and see if he will respond . You could also file it with WineHQ Forums Index and with Bugzilla Main Page . I would also browse through this first FAQ - The Official Wine Wiki to see if this has happened before.Reading package lists... Done

I don't understand how you got a duplicate sources error. Posting these 2 quotes in WineHQ Forums Index might straighten this out.Failed to fetch http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/...86/Packages.gz Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)
