MRTG Installation problem
Hi,
I have Installed MRTG rpm in Linux 8, Intel platform.
The Configuration is,
Linux ctplx001 2.4.18-14
mrtg-2.9.25-1.7.2
gd-1.8.4-9
libpng-1.2.2-6
gcc-3.2-7
perl-5.8.0-55
zlib-1.1.4-4
The Steps i have taken is,
rpm -ivh mrtg-2.9.25-1.7.2.i386.rpm
cfgmaker lotr@172.18.32.6 --global "WorkDir: /var/www/html/mrtg/work" --output "/home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg"
indexmaker /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg > /var/www/html/work/index.html
mrtg /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg
When I run the 4th Step it throws me the following error. I searched in the web and ended up in vain. Can you please guide us to solve the problem?
[root@ctplx001 work]# mrtg /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg
gd-png: fatal libpng error: Invalid filter type specified
gd-png error: setjmp returns error condition
Thanks for your time.

I haven't used MRTG personally, but it would seem to me as if your version of either gd or libpng is too old for that version of mrtg.

Hi,
The Version Mentioned in my previous mail is the latest one avilable in the Internet. Also there is a known bug mentioned in one of the previous versions but they say that it has been rectified in the later releases.
Anyway is there any other tool (using SNMP) by which i can monitor the remote unix server??
thanks

Try using libpng-1.2.5. I use that on my box with mrtg and it works.
