Cd-rom doesn't unmount
Hi, I'm a linux newbbie.
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but, here it goes.
Sometime, after I've ejected a Cd-rom from the drive, it still appears to be mounted, the icon is still present on the desktop (KDE, mandrake linux), and if I insert another cd rom, all the data appears to be a directory and a couple of files named "????????????????".
But there is not warning, nor error message.
If I eject the disk and try to unmount the drive, a message appears saying that the drive is busy.
Ok, so now, I end session, start a new one, unmount the drive, insert a cd, the drive mount, and the data still shows up wrong, full of "?????????????????" files.
The only workaround I've find is reboot the machine everytime the cd drive goes nuts, and I hate to reboot (ain't that what I was running from when switching to linux?).
Has anybody heard about this?
My machine:
Mandrake linux 10.0
Pentium III 1800 mgz
Generic Motherboard
256 RAM
LG CD-RW/DVD combo
Nvidia Gforce FX 5200
uh... don't remember the rest.
Thank's
D.
