It's my understanding that there is no Linux package for gtalk yet, and that it doesn't work well under WINE.
Perhaps someone will respond with a workable alternative for you.oz

There is a browser-based gtalk "gadget" that will let you use it without the download installation.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!

GTalk is not available for linux. You can using desktop clients like Pidgin, Kopete or empathy. Or use websites like meebo, ebuddy. Else you can chat from gmail web interface.

Skype also works with Linux. You can chat or talk (audio and video) with that.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
