Everything in it seems confusing. For starters, how do you find the program you want to remove/add?

Which Linux distro are you using?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

If Ubuntu Jaunty is an example of a distro, that's what i'm using. Otherwise, What is it?

All it basically does is query a server that has a list of packages available, then it checks to see what you have installed and see if the versions match up, if they don't, it will allow you to easily update them or install new ones that you don't have. It also makes it so you don't have to worry about things packages depend on, it makes sure it installs everything you need.
