    that sounds like a postfix config problem. so lets start with running postconf, and ensuring that mysql virtual alias configs are indeed loaded. should look something like this:

    Code:
    virtual_alias_domains = $virtual_alias_maps
    virtual_alias_expansion_limit = 1000
    virtual_alias_maps = mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql_virtual_alias_maps.cf
    virtual_alias_recursion_limit = 1000
    virtual_destination_concurrency_limit = $default_destination_concurrency_limit
    virtual_destination_recipient_limit = $default_destination_recipient_limit
    virtual_gid_maps = static:89
    virtual_mailbox_base = /var/spool/mail/virtual
    virtual_mailbox_domains = mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql_virtual_domains_maps.cf
    virtual_mailbox_limit = 51200000
    virtual_mailbox_lock = fcntl
    virtual_mailbox_maps = mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql_virtual_mailbox_maps.cf
    virtual_minimum_uid = 50
    virtual_transport = virtual
    virtual_uid_maps = static:89
    may not be exactly like yours, but you get the picture. The other thing to look out for, as I've seen this with some versions that come packaged with distros in the past is that the RPM or whatever was built without mysql support. This too can slow you down. If you built it from source, be sure you did build it with mysql support. If you are using a package, there will most likely be an error reported in the logs, or you can check the release notes.

    If you are using a postfix with mysql support, the next step would be to check all your configs. Be sure all your mysql queries are right. Make sure you are actually querying the database, and not the local alias table (/etc/aliases).

    Hi there !

    Thanks for the quick awnser scatchfire.

    I've been reading and make adjustments to do some different things.

    So first I followed this how to install postfixadmin on ubuntu:

    after changed some queries and postfix main.cf my postconf goes like this.

    Then what really happends cannot acces to squirrelmail with
    ERROR:
    ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
    See on the logs and I've got the following:

    Mar 14 18:39:43 mail authdaemond: Authenticated: clearpasswd=pasword, passwd=$1$7cfbc8de$wsdY.fXo
    Mar 14 18:39:43 mail imapd-ssl: error: Permission denied

    Mar 14 18:39:43 mail imapd-ssl: authentication error: Permission denied

    Sometimes I've got the following :

    Mar 14 18:41:21 mail imapd-ssl: user1@example.pt: chdir(/var/spool/mail/virtual) failed!!

    What was the intention it was that when creating a mailbox on postfixadmin it would make the directory and all subfolders needed without being recreated by hand.

    Would this be possible ?

    Any help please .

    is there anything in your apache logs? since its squirrelmail and all there maybe something useful in there.

    also you may also want to check on selinux, see if its running and if it is shut it off.

    when postfixadmin creates the directories, etc is it using the virtual user (i.e. user with an ID of 5000)? care to post the permissions of that newly created user that postfixadmin creates?

    it appears that authentication is happening, but now its a matter of finding where the permissions are getting hung up. make sure everything tests out in squirrelmail too, by running that perl script that comes with it, should be in the config directory of squirrelmail: conf.pl

    This could be a silly of mine but I could try with another path to make it a try and to test ?

    Would like and advice, or could this not be important has I think it is ?

    what are the permission settings on /var/spool/mail/virtual? did you try setting it to 777 and see if the permission errors go away? i know its kind of a cop-out, but if you can get it working like you want, then you can go back and lock it down if you feel the need to.

    as far as the phpmyadmin stuff, i guess its a bug.

    HI there,

    Once again thanks for your help.

    But I have some questions because with some user I can get the red squares like this text:

    but with a recently created user by postfixadmin I've got hte following:

    Is there anyway to change maildir to point it to

    /var/spool/mail/virtual/%username% ?

    Could it be permissions for the other two problems that i've posted here in this thread ?

    Best Regards

    so does /var/spool/mail/virtual/example.pt/user/ actually exist? my postfix config for mapping looks like this:

    Code:
    mysql_virtual_mailbox_maps.cf
    user= postfix
    password = blah
    hosts = localhost
    dbname = postfix
    query = SELECT CONCAT(domain,'/',maildir) FROM mailbox WHERE username='%s' AND active = 1
    that makes it the full path, whereas yours seems to be merely selecting the mail directory.
