vlc icon missing...
hey guys n gal's...
started up the computer to see the quick launch icon for vlc had reverted to some sort of blank representation...
it was still the vlc icon, and it still launched the program when you clicked it, but there was no icon.
then i looked in the menus under 'sound and video' where you find vlc listed in the menu, and it's icon was gone too.
so i opened synaptic and decided to reinstall vlc, marked it for removal, applied the change, and then went to reinstall, and got this error message:
"could not mark all packages for installation or upgrade" with the following text...
vlc:
Depends: vlc-nox (=1.0.6-1~getdeb1) but 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libfribidi0 (>=0.19.2) but 0.10.9-1 is to be installed
Depends: libqtcore4 (>=4:4.6.1) but 4.5.0-0ubuntu4.3 is to be installed
Depends: libqtgui4 (>=4:4.6.1) but 4.5.0-0ubuntu4.3 is to be installed
Depends: libx264-85 but it is not installable
Depends: libxcb-keysyms1 (>=0.3.6) but it is not installable
Recommends: vlc-plugin-pulse but it is not going to be installed
so now i have no icons or program... looked for references to this prob in many forums, but to no avail...
p.s., running 9.04 jackaloupe and tried restarting the computer before doing all else...

I'd try installing an Icon or theme pack from Eyecandy for your GNOME-Desktop - GNOME-Look.org
Or you might be able to find one available through synaptic too.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
