Audacity won't make a recording for me

I'd like to make a recording of a classical music concert found at a classical music TV website. I read the online Audacity instructions for recording, did what the instructions told me to do (run alsamixer and pick certain settings) but I can't get a recording-- I only hear silence in my test recording.

Perhaps someone here knows how to do it.

Here's some info about my hardware and software:

    My:

    - OS is MEPIS 8.5.

    - soundcard: integrated Intel ICH5
    - sound chip: Realtek ALC202 rev. 0

    - alsamixer: v. 1.0.20
    - Audacity: v. 1.3.9
    - browser: Google Chrome v. 5.0.375.86

    - pc is an IBM desktop tower (IntelliStation M Pro); P4

    Thanks
