i'm used to WIN XP OS..
i can't realy figure out how to find a good DOWNLOAD MANAGER ..and may be a FIREWALL..
..i did find some DOWNLOAD MANAGERs like : doka , carlos-downloader.. as a TARBALL files..
BUT some errors appear while the installation process

Which Linux distro/version are you using? I have used KGet in KDE based distros.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
