    Nagios Install Issues

Well, my original account here I can't figure out the username, or email or anything associated, how annoying.

Anyway, Nagios will not start. Using CentOS 5.6, and going step by step from Nagios' manual. When running /sbin/service nagios start in su mode, I get "Starting nagios:CONFIG ERROR! Start aborted. Check your Nagios configuration." When I run /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg, I get an error saying basically check your Nagios config file to make sure it has the correct info...when I never even altered it, and the manual didn't say to alter it. Can someone give me the correct nagios.cfg file for the latest version? No verbose errors are given, just a general "check your config file" error.

I would post the URL to the tutorial I used, but since I had to create a new account...I can't. Just go to Google and search for install nagios centos, and it's a kernelhardware.org article.

If you searched Google for the article I mentioned, you'd see those are essentially the same steps.

No need to bump a thread. If somebody with knowledge of Nagios sees this thread, I'm sure they will chime in.
I've never had to deal with Nagios, personally. But after doing a Google search for 'nagios.cfg file', I came up with this:
    Configuring Nagios

    Hope that helps a bit.

I will give that a look when I get the time.

FWIW, bumping this thread got me that answer...
