Where does Audacity keep its files?

I have made a number of voice recordings using Audacity but sometimes the files are lost or sent somewhere within my computer or I get error messages about disc space. Today I got frustrated and even went into Ubuntu nautilus looking for this file: /home/cousinlucky/.audacity-data/AutoSave/New Project - 2011-07-11 19-05-29 N-1.autosave

Does anyone know how I can retrieve this file? Thanks!!

I found out that I only had 1.83GiG's of space in my partition and that probably caused my file problems.

I've never used Audacity so don't know much about it but note that it is a hidden file, as indicated by the . (dot) in front of the words "audacity-data". You can set Nautilus to view hidden files (under the View menu) and perhaps then you'll find it. Hopefully someone that uses Audacity will chime in with more info for you.

Cousinlucky, you can also open the file via "File" in your upper left toolbar in Audacity and choose "Recent Files." It should be listed there. Choose it and it will open.

I tried that Dan but the only files there are the ones that I manged to save and label. I think my problem was a lack of space in my ubuntu partition and not labeling the recording before I started it. I have increased the partition size but something seems to be inside the Audacity software screwing it up.
