    Well, there are a lot of resources out there on the Internet that will help you get past that limitation. Since you want to do something that you haven't done before (other than in the Windows nanny-state environment), some research effort will go a long way. Anyway, I'll send an email to my brother-in-law who is a professional sound/recording engineer. He is very proficient with both Windows and Linux, so he may know of some other FOSS tools, or inexpensive (and not so inexpensive) Linux tools to do what you want.

    Thank you very much for help. We cancelled that project.

    But this is still very interesting for me. So if someone find out something useful let me know.
