    Hi All,

    Can anyone provide me with advice on how to install LAME on centos 6.2.

    • download it
    • Unzip/untar it: tar xvzf lame-3.99.5.tar.gz
    • Follow installation directions from file "INSTALL"
      For a complete list of options, try "./configure --help"
      % ./configure
      % make
      % make install

    You could install the ATrpms RPM repository to your system. ATrpms has a good collection of software not found in the official distros (CentOS, Fedora, RHEL, etc.). You can install the RPM here, just pick the i386 or x86_64 version and install the rpm. it should put a repo file in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory.

    then make sure you can see the new repo:

    yum repolist
    then install lame:

    yum install lame
    the beauty of yum is that it will install all dependencies for you too (or attempt to anyway).
