OCR PROGRAM
Hello,
My goal is to get several images which I scanned form articles and books and transform them into a single, searchable PDF file. The searchable part is very important. I found 2 apps that do this, but they cost 130 and 1500 bucks
would like to know if anyone knows of an app(free) that will create searchable PDF's from image files or even text files (i'll OCR them separetly)
Also a OCR app that supports many languages would be nice, especially portuguese

Xsane will scan to OCR. I don't think it can scan directly to PDF, but if you do OCR you can use OOo to export it to a PDF.

thanks man, I'll try that

oh, and do you know if there is a command line "convert to PDF" command? Opening each file in OO wouldn't be practical (10000+ pages)
