    setting desktop background ?

Hi, I'm suing mint 12, when I select a picture and choose " set as desktop background" the picture some out zoomed in like 5 times when it's on the desktop. this never happend in mint 10, I'm stumped, even if I drop the picture into gimp, it does the same thing. why can't I just get the picture the correct scale ? is it a gnome issue ? thanks for any help.

Does it do the same if you use the change desktop background option on the desktop's right click menu?
