Typically, you would want to install software via your package manager. What distro are you running?
This should help a bit.Jay

Hello and welcome!

In addition to what jayd512 said above, another simple way you can install Flash Player is as follows:
Go to Adobe's site and download the Flash Player you want to install:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Extract it to get the .so plugin file.
Close Firefox
Now, open your Home folder and set your file manager to show hidden files...
Enter the .mozilla folder and create a new directory there called "plugins" (without quotes). Drag and drop the "libflashplayer.so" file from the extraction folder to the "plugins" folder...
Restart Firefox and you should be able to watch Flash content.oz
