    auth.log stop working after edit


    I know this is crazy but I tried to edit auth.log and then. All of my login after that is not log. I can still log in but without log. I thinks some off service is need to restart. Because when i reboot it start log again.

    Please help me

    Hello and welcome!

    Off the bat, I have no idea what is causing that. But one thing is for sure: more info will be imperative. Start with the Linux distribution and version you are using. Also, how are you editing the log, what are you trying to add/change, and do you get any errors when you do it? Also, anything in the system log? (/var/log/syslog, /var/log/messages, etc).
