do u mean upload? or are u really trying to d/l from the vsftpd server?

try to connect locally first. in term:

    ftp localhost

    also check logs:

    /var/log/secure
    /var/log/messages
    /var/log/xferlog

have u made sure that vsftpd is running?

    is selinux enabled?

I can connect correctly to localhost. Logs doesn't contain anything useful.
I connect to the server with Filezilla then it start downloading files fine and works for some minute then all other files can't be downloaded because of timeout (server not send anything despite it it still connected)...

ok, what about using a command line ftp client from the remote machine. does that make a diff? is it large files only?

can u use sftp/open ssh server as an alternative? filezilla supports it.
