can't get mplayer to work
New to linux using mandrake 10.1, downloaded m player, i put the dvd in the disc read light flashed sounds like it's reading the disc but the window goes blank and nothing happens, i get no error codes, then i can't close the windows for mplayer down. I tried useing totem but after i put the dvd in a message comes up saying that totem must close unexpectedly. Any ideas guys,

how are you running it? from the command line? gmplayer?

I basically open mplayer in multimedia and put the disc in, right click open disc. Am i missing something really basic?

try running it from the command line:

Is the DVD copy protected? If so, you'll need to install libdvdcss to decode the encryption on the DVD.

I'm having a hell of a time getting mplayer to work for some odd reason (see post in multimedia), however, Kaffeine and Xine work fine.

Right i'm learning new things downloaded a libdvdcss & dvds now seem to work fine, had to look about abit to find one but it's there thanks for your help
