    Windows to linux mint


    Hello everyone. I am trying to install linux mint on my laptop who has preinstalled windows 8 but when i try to do it i cant change my filesystem to ext4. Anyone know how to to do this?

    You are a little short on detail as to what you have done. During the installation of Linux Mint, you should see an Installation Type window and in that window you should see the various partitions on your hard drive(s) including the format type. If you click on a partition to highlight it and select the Change tab you should get an Edit window where you can set the format. If you click on free/unallocated space and select the Add tab you get the same Edit window. Have you got to this point? If not, how far have you proceeded?
