    What program can I use to put subtitles into AVI movies?


    Hello everyone...
    What program can I use to put subtitles into AVI movies? I use the distro Ubuntu 14.10.
    I have some urgency in tackling this my problem.
    I thank anyone who can help me.

    most media players do this for you.
    if there's superman.avi, it looks for a file called superman.srt and loads it along with the movie.
    the .srt file is a simple plain text file and contains time and formatting codes and the subtitles themselves.

    there's other formats, like .sub and more.

    if you really want to put the subtitles into the movie, that would be called hardcoding and is not recommended. it also requires some more work & software & computing power, because you're re-encoding the whole movie.

    Sorry, I did not explain well what I want. I want to put subtitles on some AVI movies to view on TV without having to connect the pc to TV.

    i guess you want to create a dvd then.
    you need create-a-dvd-software for that.
    one linux program is called "devede".
    try that.
