    [patrick@localhost planeshift]$ make install
    make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.
    [patrick@localhost planeshift]$
    thats my problem

    as Dolda said is it a .tar.gz file? or is it a .rpm package?
    from where did you get the source? obviously you are trying to run ./configure but a file of that name is not present in your current directory...have you unpacked the source?

    right, you have to cd into the directory where the files extracted and then run ./configure
