    Untrusted PPA's Personal Package Archives

    Hi,

I am using Mint 17.2 and would like to install a game thats only available through PPA's. However the website warned me that christoph-egger isn't a trusted source.

Would it be a security risk installing such PPA's?

Yes, it very well could be. Backup your system before you install anything like this...

it could be harmful in different ways:
    • not well configured, pulls in dependencies that break your system
    • contains some sort of spyware or even malware (unlikely even for ubuntu, but possible)

it could also be high quality work of an honest coder, contributing to the wealth of free and open source software, but hasn't been recognized by Canonical Ltd for some reason.
