How to configure mutt to send emails on Linux.?

I am trying to use mutt in order to send emails. I have installed mutt using yum and pasted some details about it later in

    the post.

    When I try to run:

echo test | mutt -s "Test Email" emailid

"emailid" (is an example email id)

It doesn't do anything. I dont receive any emails. I have the SMTP details for the mail server however i am not sure how

can i configure mutt to utilize these details. After i searched I found about "muttrc" file however I can't see any such

    file on the server currently.

Could you please help me on how to setup mutt and how can I make it work for my emails?
