OpenVPN connects but cannot ping remote resource

The vpn connects to my office which is on a 192.168.5.x subnet but i cannot communicate with anything once connected( cant ping remote windows server or remote gateway)

The reason i'm trying to setup the connection is to upload the client config to my VoIP phones that will connect from off-site through openvpn.

Anyone know what I'm missing and how to route traffic to the the remote server?

    Server config
    Code:
    port 1194
    proto udp
    dev tun

    ca ca.crt
    cert server.crt
key server.key # This file should be kept secret
    dh dh1024.pem
    server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0
    ifconfig-pool-persist ipp.txt
    keepalive 10 120
    comp-lzo
    persist-key
    persist-tun
    status openvpn-status.log
    verb 3
    client
    Code:
    client
    dev tun
    proto udp
    remote externalip 1194
    resolv-retry infinite
    nobind
    persist-key
    persist-tun
    ca ca.crt
    cert client1.crt
    key client1.key

    ns-cert-type server
    comp-lzo
    verb 3
    float

You need to fix this first "cannot communicate with anything once connected". So, how do you know you have successfully connected if you cannot communicate with the remote systems?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
