SMTP Auth
Hi guys
New ISP, new mail server. However, this one supports SMTP auth, and getmail doesnt! I like getmail, and dont particaully want to change, so I figgued I'd add support.
smtp auth is, apparently a way of identifying and authenticating users of an smtp server. Theres an RFC on the subject: http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2554.html, and it appears the client and server authenticate with a chalange and answer in a bace64 encoded string. The RFC doesn't cover what string should be encrypted, so after an hour of googling, and another 1/2 of playing, connected to an smtp server messing arround, I came here.
Does any one know what string should be encoded to send to the server? I have a valid username and password for the system, but I'm getting nowhere.
Thanks
Scazz
