Depends what format of ebook you are talking about... There are viewer apps available for TXT (such as VIM,nano,pico,etc), HTML (Konqueror,Firefox,lynx,etc), PDF (KPDF?), etc. I'm not an XWindows user, so I can't point you the GUI tools for all the various formats, but since many ebooks are standard formats like TXT, HTML, and PDF, it's pretty easy.
