Hello,
my machine is a dell c600, 512MB mem with suse 8.1 installed. when trying to install/upgrade libdvdread 0.9.3 i get a memory error:
"memory alloc returned NULL"
same behaviour ...

libdvdread: memory alloc returned NULL
Hello,
my machine is a dell c600, 512MB mem with suse 8.1 installed. when trying to install/upgrade libdvdread 0.9.3 i get a memory error:
"memory alloc returned NULL"
same behaviour when installing using Yast or manually with rpm * --force --nodeps
can anyone help me?

Can I assume that you're using an RPM to upgrade? I think that SuSE's rpm binary might be a bit buggy. Try getting the latest version from http://www.rpm.org/.
If that doesn't work, then just download the source for libdvdread and install that instead of a RPM.
