    write directories using cdrecord?

is this possible, I have looked around but haven't found anything that gives info on how to do this so it would seem that it is not possible. It would be really handy if it worked as I am in the process of backing up some directories for a tech job I am doing.

cdrecord can't create a filesystem by itself. You must use mkisofs and pipe its output into cdrecord.
