Limewire is good, just make sure you have Java installed.

Yip, aMule is truly great
. Shareaza is also available for Linux i think, otherwise Limewire, Gnutella, ... Plenty of choice

apollon is nice. It connects to gift, gnutella, and pretty much every other network.

It *does* require a lot of KDE shite, though...

Agree! I currently run apollon connected to ares, fasttrack, gnutella and openft and there's still lots of gift-plugins I haven't tryed! And, as you said, the only reason I have kdelibs installed is to use apollon, I find none of the other gift-interfaces good enough...

So, it depends what network you use, but my advice is mldonkey (KMLDonkey is the preferred KDE client for it).

When talking about bittorrent-clients, I actually like ctorrent a bit since it can be run without having to start X...
