i have tried LimeWire but that works better on my Window$ system, Mldonkey which is too difficult and i havent got the time to fiddle with it to get it working and apollon which a file's attributes couldn't be satisfied.
is there any file sharing app that:

I use limewire sometimes and it seems to be good enough. Never tried bit torrent clients though.

If you get to setup apollon correctly, that would be my choice... Have you tryed the all-in-one installer/compiler which does most of the dirty job for you?

I can't say I ever had to fiddle to get mldonkey working. Did you try an extra gui with mldonkey? I use the Sancho gui. I just extracted the .tar.gz files to seperate folders. ran mldonkey (via "mlnet") then sancho and it was working perfectly. Then you can configure sancho to start mlnet automatically when it starts.
Or alternativly mldonkey should be accessable via http://127.0.0.1:4080/ by deafult. Though I didn't figure this out till later as it is less than obvious how to get mldonkey working.
Alternativly there's alwayse wine. I did a brief test a while back and some of the file sharing programs still worked fine. I'd hardly call using wine hard assuming you don't mind trying a few diferent windows apps till you get one that works. Wine can be supprisingly good at times.

Is there a file called /lib/cpp in your system? If not you may be missing some packages... It seemed to work fine for me, in everything from fedora to gentoo (yes I know there is an ebuild)...

/lib/cpp exists but it is an executable link to somwhere else

mlnet won't connect to edonkey network
Hi folks,
The application mlnet says "connected to 0 servers on the edonkey network". Is this a configuration error? Gnutella is no problem to connect to.
Thanks for any explanation.
B.
