    this is my idea...can we build an install program that would allow a distro to basically takeover a windows box......just here me out say i want to convert my mom to linux but she doesn't want to lose her files....i pop in distro (X)
    it autodetects windows and asks you to specify the directories that you wish to carry over...

    Alot of newer 'user friendly' distros (cite SuSE) now automaticaly shrink and keep the old windows partition so that it can be booted into, and mounted under linux (ie, it keeps all the windows files in a folder called windows)
