    Ok then i need to install nano onto my root server using the wget

    what is the link i need to download it and what command do i need to run it

    wget http://www.nano-editor.org/dist/v1.2/nano.tar.gz
    cd /where-ever-you-put-it
    ./configure --enable-color --enable-nanorc
    make
    make install
    Then edit /etc/nanorc or ~/.nanorc to configure it the way you like it.

    Apologies for the typo.

    It should read nano-1.2.5.tar.gz. If you just go to the directory above the link I sent you can see a list of the available downloads.

    I only use Vi myself - even if I'm in GUI I will still launch a terminal to use Vi. Occasionally I will use Nano too (mainly in Gentoo), but that's about it.
