Does not apt-get install files via internet..or am i wrong?
i meant from source or rpm on my box.Just a Newbie....Looking 4 Info....

I dont know of any prorgam that installs source and rpm:s,but just by dubbelklicking on the rpm-package when you are in X makes it to install it automaticly,
but i always recommend to install programs both from source and rpm-packages from the commandline, there you can see better what happends and you learn more about the fundamentals of linux.Regards

In your original post, you said rpm was fine. Yes it uses the internet, but you didn't say you it coudn't.

Emerge will install from source for you if you want to put the ports on your box.
