trying to open files from mozilla mail brings up save dialog

kinda an odd one - when I right click an attatchment in mozilla mail and select open it brings up a save file as dialog - instead of opening the file (in this case a .doc so it should be open office)

Any ideas?

It may not reconize the file type so its allowing you to save the file to open with another app.

You do know that mozilla uses its own file info db? Maybe you just haven't configured mozilla with doc files.

yeah, it used to give me an option to select the app to open the file with, now that choice is gone and it just goes straight to saving the file

I think that's reconfigurable if you look in Edit/Preferences/Navigator/Helper Applications. If you can't resolve it properly, at least there's a "Reset" button there.

yeah a reset was able to take care of it, although there was no applications listed as being associated with .doc files, which i thought was my problem - i have to wonder if maybe i typoed or somethign when i told it to use /usr/bin/oowriter to open the .doc files - i was pretty sure i checked, but i am a bad typer so maybe...

thanks though, i knew that was around somewhere ...
