    Firefox will not download webpages



    Firefox will not download any .html or .hmt pages from the internet. What happens is I tell it to "save as" and then the box comes up that asks where I would like to download the file too. I press 'OK' and firefox dies, this happens EVERY time I have tried it. Is this normal or is there a fix for this.
    I am using firefox 1.0.4 (whatever is newest). And if it is any help I am runnignti on Suse 9.3.

    You know, just about every Firefox crash I've had is usually related to a corrupted profile (likely a buggy extension problem). A good way to test this--make a backup copy of your bookmarks, a backup copy of your /home/username/.mozilla folder, then delete the /home/username/.mozilla folder. Then try to save webpages. If it still crashes, there's something seriously wrong with your Firefox--in which case, you may want to upgrade to 1.0.6 (the most current version) or download Firefox straight from the Mozilla website. (I'm assuming you downloaded it throught YaST.)

    If the profile thing doesn't solve it, try opening Firefox from the terminal
    Code:
    $ firefox
    and when it crashes, see if you get an error message.

    That seems to help for now, what I did was just to keep the bookmarks and config(text) files from my profile. We will see how long it lasts. :wink:

    Thank you ,but it seems that the profile fix solved the problem, at least for now. by the way is this an error :D

    I have found the problem, it was some GTK2 library that apt-get updated and the update was buggy hence the problems with firefox and the other minor problems I have been having. Any other linux user tipped me off and by rolling back the changes I have solved the problems.

    Thank you both for your help, I appreciate it greatly.
