guys, i am gonna start making some digital movies but i know sh*t about good software for video edit. anyone knows good apps for linux or should i reboot to xp and search for win apps? hope not, of course! so, any suggestions? also, i never tried firewire on linux..donīt even know if it is working..

I don't know about Firewire but there is a video editor called Kino: http://www.kinodv.org/. Apparently Kino has fantastic Firewire support: http://software.newsforge.com/articl...31216&from=rss.

that table of comparisons is _so_ out of date/incomplete it doesnt even list blender3d under 3d editing/creation. the best way to find software is google

Firewire works fine on the latest Linux (at least it works fine on SuSE-9.3).

I don't know if you're needing compositing, but this years Siggraph unveiled that Eyeon is releasing DigitalFusion for Linux.
