Gaim will do both of those, as well as a number of others.

Gaim comes with most distros. To find out just run the command gaim.

Although I second the gaim motion above and am a long time user, I thought this link might be interesting for you. Also although most people (including myself) prefer gaim, Kopete is quite good too.

Kopete, IMO, is much better. You can have your AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc accounts all opened up in 1 window. Its really convienient.

Yeh, I prefer GAIM aswell. Dunno why thought.
