i am also interested in installing wine
i have got some questions too
i will be installing wine to install msn messenger 6.0
kazaa lite file sharing program
and installing iTunes media player of Apple [for windows2000/XP].
i will also try to install other media players to see how they respond.
---------------------------------------------
i am still not comfortable installing programs with *.tgz files
there r rpms available at sourceforge.net
they have rpms for i386, i686 and athlon.
they have devel files along with src file and program files only for i386 and i686 but no devel rpm for athlon processor [only src and actual program rpm].
my processor is AMD Duron 750Mhz.
will that fall under athlon category or i should use the files for i686/i386?

The all above could work with wine ,and you just need to run individual SETUP with wine, maybe this site http://www.franksworld.net/ is a way to enter, but I am puzzled why not try some alternatives like OpenOffice ,Mplayer,Gaim, and etc.

Realplayer has been ported to linux. You can run any of those in wine but it might be easier using vmware. I run kazaa lite in wine and it works good. I don't see why you would want to use windows media player, mplayer works a lot better.

I wouldn't bet that you can run MS Office in Linux, though. As far as I know, it uses a lot of undocumented Win API calls. However, use OpenOffice instead; it's free.
