    XMMS PROBLEM ON UBUNTU (UPDATED)

    hello i am totally new to ubuntu (linux world). The problem i am getting is i downloaded and installed the xmms from Synaptic Package Manager. Now whenever i run xmms and add a song (in mp3 format) and click the play button my xmms player halts up. means all other linux is working properly but not my xmms. its like xmms stop responding and i also dun get any error plus i can't even close it. can anybody help me in solving this issue. thanks.
